Forced to login to Facebook for rewards

My father is using a tablet to play Candy Crush Saga and a couple of days ago it stopped giving rewards (Level 860) saying to get them he must connect to facebook (the progress shows but it greyed for the rewards). I am pretty sure he does not have a facebook account or if it was ever connected, and if so, I am not sure how we did it. How can we get it working? Does it require a facebook account now? Did it always or did something change?

Is this for the Sugar Drops by any chance? I would of thought you could also claim rewards with a Kingdom account, is that what he was syncing his progress to or does he not sync and save his progress at all?

Critter Catch not working properly
I've had this issue before and it's very frustrating. I click on the butterfly but it's not being counted. Last time I had this happen it didn't count my last 2 butterflies so I didn't get the reward. Today it didn't count 1 (so far). Can you tell me what's going on and that this issue will be fixed? Thanks.
