Why have my boosters disappeared?

I had several hundred boosters (that I have accumulated over a period of time) which have disappeared. I play on android (on one device only) and have not recently updated the game (my settings prevent auto-updates). Why have they disappeared and is there any way to get them back? If not, I think I'll be quitting and trying a game from another provider out of principle (currently on level 1647, so I don't say it lightly). I'm really disappointed as although my ipad playing friends encounter frequent difficulties, I'd had a good experience up to now.

If you're playing and progressing in the game, and you're not using your boosters, which by saying you have hundreds, I don't think you are, then why would you threaten to leave the game when they disappear? I don't get the principal of hoarding when players have no intent on using the boosters.
