Got new phone; progress didn't transfer

I was on level 1889 on my old iphone. I got a new iphone and my progress didn't transfer. I made an account on my old iphone, but when I logged into that account on my new iphone, the progress didn't transfer. I changed my account icon, and that did transfer. When I play online, I was able to start at level 1889. Does anyone know what's going on?
