My previous device is now kaput. I was up to level 1500 (approx.) on CC Saga. I have only just joined facebook (to ask this question) How can I transfer that progress to my new Samsung T560 pad?

If you haven't been playing the game through Facebook then, unfortunately, your levels haven't been saved. It's extremely important to play through Facebook because Facebook saves your levels.
