Hi Sandy, where are you playing the game - mobile or computer? I know that on mobile devices all lives and boosters are saved just to that device so that you can play the game offline. That means any crash, uninstalling the game or operating system update can cause you to lose everything except the gold bars.
If it's on the computer, please let me know because this could be a new glitch starting. Unfortunately, King cannot reimburse lives that are lost.
