gold bars disappeared

i purchased the piggy bank this morning and had a total,of about 63 gold bars. I have not intentionally used any of them. Mid afternoon I now have 2 gold bars. Where did they go? How can I ensure that any purchase is confirmed before completion, even by gold bars rather than money?
