Do the lives that you get from your friends expire?

Earlier today I had 1026 lives and after play one game my lives went down to 999.  I can't find anything about this topic.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

To tell you the truth, I have not paid much attention to actual number of Lives!  The notification shows there are 300+ messages in my envelope!!  

But actual rule is, Yes, the Lives we receive expire 7 days after we receive them.  And my personal experience is that the requests for Lives will stay until we send or delete them!  Since both requests for Lives as well as gift of Lives from friends are located in same area, we won't know the actual count of Lives we have though!!
