Introduction
Popcorn is a tough but rewarding blocker in Candy Crush Saga. They first appear in Episode 53, Eggnog Emporium, on Level 771. When cleared, you will get a color bomb that can be used anytime.
Appearance
Popcorn looks like strange brown squares with squiggly creamy blobs (top image). Like many blockers, they take up one square. When hit one time, the blob grows larger (middle image). When hit the second time, it grows even bigger and starts flashing (bottom image).
Properties of Popcorn
Clearing Popcorn
Popcorn take three hits to be cleared, but it is considered to be even harder to destroy than five-layered frosting or waffles. That's because it is immune to adjacent matches. You need to use special candies and/or their combinations three times. When it is hit three times and goes through the process described in the images above, it pops and turns into a color bomb. But popcorn also absorbs the effects of special candies, even in its flashing state. This means that striped candies cannot reach anything beyond the first popcorn. Wrapped candies are more helpful in popcorn clearing, being able to grow all the popcorn around it twice, as it explodes multiple times. Color bombs alone will not have any effect. It needs a special candy combined with it.
Other Blockers and Elements
- Popcorn can be found in sugar chests. When this is the case, they are protected.
- Popcorn in licorice locks require four hits.
- Popcorn can move on conveyer belts when placed there at the beginning.
- If a lucky candy on a conveyor belt turns into popcorn, it will be popped immediately. This is not the case if it is not on the belt.
Helpful Popcorn
Popcorn is quite difficult to remove in small or restricted, or isolated boards. If special candies are hard to be created, popcorn is even harder to pop. However, once you do remove them, it's very rewarding. Popcorn next to each other offer you color bomb + color bomb combinations, clearing many blockers. However, popcorn can be in stuck zones for ingredients, and you can't activate color bombs when there is no candy next to it. However, popcorn is extremely helpful for color bomb orders. Some strategies call for popcorn, such as in levels with non-spawning candy orders. They help open lucky candies, or you can combine color bombs.
