Surely it's not possible to make progress as quickly as the first two players in this group without cheating? I'm posting a couple of screen shots to illustrate the pace at which they gain points.

To illustrate this is my leaderboard. I don't cheat and I have never got a booster from cheating. I have no adverts in my game and have spent a total of £2.99 on this game.
So I am Christine in this screenshot and I reached over 600,000 points by this morning. I played for two hours yesterday morning, two hours at lunchtime and two in the evening, then half and hour this morning to get to this score, that's a total of less than 7 hours.
(I've just noticed that this thread is from last year!!! Silly me: I was baffled by the first post showing an image of a player at time point 59 minutes to go, when it's a 48 hour event. Yes, well that is why, last year it was a three day event. )
To answer your question, this is similar to the complaints that were posted about All Stars in the spring. The fact is yes, these scores are mathematically possible. Personally I play an episode in half an hour, but there are professional players who can play faster. If they don't rest (like I do) then they can get these astronomical scores in the hours since the event started. Your score is very great, better than mine, but if it took me about 7 hours play to reach 600,000 by this morning (see screenshot in next post) then to get to 1,8 million is certainly possible to do by 15 hours on the clock left.
The second point is about how they appear to suddenly jump up in the points. This is due to playing offline. This they do deliberately to catch their opponents off guard. Their scores will not show in other players' game until they decide to turn their wifi back on. It's not fair, but it's what they do. I would recommend that if you are grouped with players of this kind, forget about the event and just play your own game. It's supposed to be fun, not a slog or chore!
Hi! Having a similar experience as well where first place(Ashwani) is making an astronomical number of points compared to the rest of the group. It does not seem mathematically possible to gain this many points even with constant play around the clock. Please look into it!
I have the same concern. With 50 hours to go, I took the first screenshot with Rashid at 155k. With 26 hours to go, I took the second screenshot with rashid at 243k (less than half my points). When I woke up 8 hours later, it was around the same, but I didn’t take a screen shot. 12 hours later, Rashid had somehow passed me, earning an additional 800k and topping a million. I consistently got around 250-300k per day, playing 15-18 hours a day (I was on a virtual conference for 13 hours a day all weekend) and cleared 300-400 levels. I ended up somewhere around 800k, but it was all wasted time and resources. I was going to take the final screenshot when it was over, but when I woke up this morning I got the message that I got second, got crummy rewards, and no sign of the actual scoreboard. I can only assume that was because King became aware of the cheating issue. Rashid cheated me out of the monthly 100 gold bars.
