Did not update the app or switch devices but I lost all my gold bars (about 111). I logged in using Facebook and noticed that they were just gone.

I'm going to assume you have a King account that's linked to your Facebook account. Correct? Is anything else missing - levels, boosters?
Loss of gold bars recently happened to a forumite after the game linked their existing Facebook created account with their new King account. Support restored most of their gold bars, as they weren't that many to begin with.
You should therefore also write to Support (<- link). Just don't give up if they tell you can't help you. Reply back and insist that it wasn't your fault.

Ads that start with scrolling green line across bottom and green OPEN rectangle "crash" most of the time. Only the green line ones have problem. Problem: ad plays, x appears top right corner.
