Levels made harder for the Candy Cup?

This isn't new: I got the impression when All Stars launched that levels were being made harder to pass. Now I see this: I am currently playing levels 1-200 on two devices. On my old iPhone 6 I don't get the Candy Cup and the levels are the same as always, there are three levels marked hard in the episode. On my iPad (the first of the two screenshots) I have the Candy Cup. And lo and behold, levels have been altered. Levels 187 and 189, so far are completely revamped and there are now six hard levels, twice as many as before.

. Both my devices are up to date, so I don't know why the levels are different. It's All Stars all over.....Anyone else noting that levels are harder to pass all of a sudden?

So an added observation after having been thrown out of the Candy Cup competition for getting some extra lives when I had run out. I know this happens and don't care. HOWEVER interestingly enough, levels have now reverted back to being easier.

This was level 189 whilst I was a contender in the Candy Cup. Once I quit, on the same device, I get the original 189, which was not classed as hard.

I think that's pretty good evidence. I should take the ? out of the header and replace with ! This is sunny swamp part 2: 189 and 196 have gone back to the old, easier, version.

The super hard version of your level 189 is actually level 2049. Apparently, they substitute regular levels with higher ones for those participating in Candy Cup.

I have my own answer now: I can't get past the episodes in the early 200s without spending UFOs or gold, which is very different from how I remember these episodes in previous weeks I have played them. At least one or two of levels 225, 235, 240 and/or 245 will not let you pass until you have tried dozens of times.

So I will now take my boosters and run. Probably take a pause until the Candy Cup is over. It is June after all, let's have some fun in the garden instead.

I can not have fun in the garden here in Australia as it is winter now too cold. LOL

I've seriously considered starting over as you did, @christinewupp . But now, after reading some of these happenings, I think I'd rather be stressed at level 13957 than at level 200! Seems as if the PTB really hate their players! LOL

Actually, it's probably the wise thing to do at the moment. I took my boosters and ran back to my main game with them and some of the levels in episode 14241 onwards were more fun to play than level 225 or 235! I do hope when you get there they won't have been changed. We know King have a habit of doing that...
