I bought some fish for 30 minutes and never got to use them.
Buying fishes for 30 minutes? Is that possible even? If you get 30 minutes timed boosters fishes through an event you only ever get one on the starting board whereas if you play fish as your starting booster you usually get load throughout the level. I'd be interested to know if buying the 30 minutes will get you more fishes than the events do. But even so I certainly wouldn't recommend buying a timed fish booster. Your next few levels might not have any jelly and for everything else they are useless. Starting boosters are not very useful on the hardest levels because King can manipulate where they start off on a lot of boards so they are likely to get wasted and don't end up where you would want them.
If you have lots of gold I'd recommend buying switches. They give you control over the game and are very useful boosters, they can win you a level without having to buy extra moves sometimes. A switch can rescue a gummi dragon sitting over a last pile of toffee swirls or make two colour bombs go side by side.
