I have been waiting 40 mins for the game to stop and allow me to continue. The candy keeps falling.

I am sorry to hear about the glitch in your level!!
In Candy Crush Saga, there are some levels that have the "cascades" glitch. The Candy Studio is trying to fix this glitch, but it is taking a bit longer than expected!!
When we are experiencing this glitch, all we can do is to --> exit the level - come out of the gap - close the App - shutdown the device and turn it on again - open the game and attempt the level again.
I know that you will lost your win streak with this step! But, unfortunately, there is nothing else you can do!
