I am sorry to know that you are not receiving lives in your game!! Few more players also were reporting this issue and I have reported about it to our Candy Community In-charge! Let me find out if there is a glitch with sending & receiving lives.
In the mean time, please see if you can add more friends for your game! If you are playing through Facebook, you can join some groups and send requests for more friends.
If you have logged in with email, add more friends through the game. Please see below image to know how to add players through your game.
First click on your Profile icon -- then click on the "Friends" tab -- then, click on "Add more Friends" at the bottom of the pop-up -- then, select the players you would like to add as friends and send your request.
