Strange thing the Candy Royale @mrboonie. We are forced to play every single feature of Candy Crush and yet no one complains about the other features.
Sam's Streak, Weekly Contest, Episode Race, Daily Win they all force us to play, but no one complains about these features. The only difference is that you can quickly close the pop-ups for all of the other features.
It seems to me that if King wants everyone to play and enjoy Candy Royale all they have to do is introduce an X button that closes the pop-up but does not prevent you from participating.
