Hate to say it but unless you can win episode races and get any other gold the game gives you, you are at a dead end. You are in a very brutal section which is just a taste of things to come in around 2700 to 5000, yup around 2300 levels of the nonsense you are seeing atm.

Being a mobile game, for most players you will have to spend money to proceed. It is possible to not spend a dime but it is not easy.
