How do I fix a screen that loads and never displays my game progress?

I haven’t played Candy Crush in years and when I try to start playing again the screen just loads. The game allows me to reconnect using my FB account, but the game never loads. The little icon just keeps spinning.

BTW… I’m using an Apple iPad Air 13 128gb. The IOS is 18 something.
