And she has gone a long way to become one.
It all began when she took up ice skating when her Lemonade Lake froze in the winter.
Then, she competed in the Pairs Skating contest of the Ice Cream Games, with little Odus being her figure skating partner. And the two of them won the grand prize, a sweet crystal ice cream trophy!
She then taught her daughter Didi how to skate, but then she started getting interested in a different ice sport…hockey.
At first, Denize thought figure skating was the more interesting sport on ice. Then, she took a look into the NHL and picked the New York Islanders as her favorite team. Then they encountered a legendary moment in league history when they became the team to give up Alex Ovechkin's iconic goal that shattered Wayne Gretzky's otherwise unassailable record of 894 total regular season goals. She could not help but congratulate this Washington Capitals' captain for his incredible feat.
This was what got Denize into hockey more and more, wanting to see all the fast and furious action not seen in figure skating. And now, she has come to the point where she could proudly call herself a hockey mom as she began to cheer on her daughter more and more as she got better and better at it.
For at least a moment, the two appeared to resemble Jill Andersen and her hockey-playing daughter Riley from the animated film Inside Out, which celebrated its 10th anniversary today.
