Now I never realised that they stack! Ridiculous! It just makes the whole event even more fake and unreal than it already was. You are right, it is best ignored. What a stupid, pointless event! The prizes aren't even all that good. They should at least add a party popper to the mix.

Note that there are two multipliers active in this contest. First, each level you win on your first attempt is counted as two. Second, each level you win over the weekend is counted as two. These two multipliers stack, so if you play a lot over the weekend and maintain your win streak, you'll gain points four times as fast.
Your opponents also receive those multipliers, and since all of them are new players who play early levels and likely don't save up their boosters and gold, they progress and gain points quickly. They likely don't cheat. It's the game makers who pit higher-level players against beginners and select opponents for us that are unbeatable unless we play much more than we normally do. This event is best ignored for the time being.
