Many weeks ago, Candy Crush Saga announced a retcon of the ingredient objective that was once called "Gummi Dragons" in 2023, which renamed them as Sprinks.
This retcon also entails that they were not the children of an early dragon character named Denize as they were first described as in 2023, and that they are now a new species of dragon. An upcoming game element called "Sprinks' Nest" is also being planned.
As a result, this game now has two distinct species of dragons. Let's describe each one.
Gummi Wyrms (name is not official)
This is the species I'm talking about when you speak of Denize and her daughter Didi. Newborn members emerge out of chocolate eggs looking more like lizards, but over the many years they live, they grow into towering, snakelike monstrosities, complete with jagged jaws, claws and thorny spikes. But don't worry, humans aren't on their menu. If anything, they act human. Like oriental dragons, they don't have wings and also have barbels that hang from right below their noses. They may not be able to fly, but they are surely good swimmers.
I came up with the name of this species (which has not been confirmed as canon, to be honest) because as the original name of the Sprinks was Gummi Dragons, and they were said to be Denize's children, I came to think that Denize was sort of gummy too. When I then recalled that one real-life candy was the gummi worm, and then recalled that snakelike dragons are called wyrms, I then put two and two together and christened this species "Gummi Wyrm". So there you have it.
Sprinks
The cuter kind of dragon that's more likely in need of help. Unlike Gummi Wyrms, these creatures resemble western dragons with a lizard-like look and wings to help them fly. The Hungry Hatchling that was first introduced in late 2023 whom you could feed to make her grow a little is also called a Sprinkling, and with the recent retcon of the Gummi Dragons to Sprinks, I take it to mean that her appearance and name is similar to that of the Sprinks, she is indeed a fellow Sprink. What Sprinks grow into as adults is what remains to be seen…
So there you have it! Two different dragon species in Candy Crush Saga. Could there be more?
