After I use my 5 lives the person with fishing pole gives me 2 more lives. But I only get to play 1more game. This has been going on for a while. Why? Thank you

When the fishing boat appears, it doesn't give you two lives immediately, but it offers you a chance to win two lives. You are given an extra attempt, and you must win the level on that attempt. If you win, you'll get this screen and two lives will be given to you.
If you fail, you only keep the timed boosters, no lives are given.
