Why do I never get any lives from my 70+ friends

I send lives 4 times a day and only get maybe 2 lives back. What is the point in having friends on the game when I never receive lives from any of them. And with ads only being temporary and it’s random to get a live through a ad and I can’t even get that. Says in my mail that I can save up to 20 lives a day and I’ve never had any. 🤬
