I am playing four accounts in the 1st knockout round, one of them has the multiplier tokens. As it's been Christmas family time I only started playing the round on Sunday on one account and Monday on the other three accounts.
I am now quite sure that these live leaderboard events are bespoke and our opponents not random. It is not possible that I see what I see (again and again in multiple accounts) if player allocation was random. But I will only concentrate on the one account that has the multiplier tokens here.
The tokens appear for use in the qualifying round and we can use them throughout the competition. We are grouped with others who have those tokens. That much we have been told.
A thought experiment: What if the game has a record of how many tokens we have left and uses that information when allocating players to the next round?
The reason I am theorising this is because in my game (I started at the point of 12 hours to go) I had two opponents who used their multiplier tokens in that round. Not more, not less. This - again- reminds me of how the Weekly Contest plays out week after week. ( One player is always hard to catch, but you can easily get onto the podium if you want to), so seeing this in the live leaderboard knockouts makes me suspicious. Was I given these opponents so that I would have to use my multiplier tokens to win the group but could easily qualify for the next round? Is this King's manipulation? As so often these opponents do not seem "real" even though they undoubtedly are real.
I went to bed in third spot with nowhere near a far enough gap. Had any of the other 12 players used multiplier tokens I would have failed and got beaten. This morning as I happened to get up at half past six I saw none of this had happened and there was no need for me to play mine:
I have this theory: When I enter the second knockouts I will also be grouped with players who still have their tokens and King's computers will have a programme to decide how many of my opponents also still have their multipliers, so that it won't be easy for me to win the next leaderboard, no matter when I join and no matter how I play.
It may be possible that those of us who keep their multiplier tokens will then be grouped together with others who still have their multiplier tokens in the finals making holding onto them pointless.
I would greatly appreciate if those of you playing this event with the tokens could share your experiences here
