This thread will be edited and added to. For now this is my advice:
- Anyone new to the game or stuck at levels beyond 10,000 please check the threads I link at the bottom
- Anyone playing below level 5000: It should be possible to make enough gold by following my tips here to win every episode race and increase your gold balance
Please be aware that Candy Crush is run by automated systems which track your playing style, purchase history and much, much more in order to get you hooked and then make you spend money to keep playing. Everything in this game is an illusion, a trick, and manipulation. If you see through this you can learn to beat the game.
In short:
To win every episode race you have to have gold bars. To make gold bars you have to win every episode race. It is a repeating cycle.
I can think of these methods/strategies to play:
Method A
Standard slow progression
- Never start an episode unless you are able to finish it in the same day
- Never spend more than 10 gold bars per level
- If the level is hopeless quit and replay until the game offers you enough extra moves to pass with 10 gold
- Do not spend gold bars to purchase UFOs, party poppers or starting boosters. All levels that require these boosters can be passed with 10 gold bars: After 3 attempts you should get offered +25 moves plus a UFO for 10 gold bars. Every level below level 5000 can be passed with that offer. Therefore:
- Do not hold on to a win streak at all costs. This is a very costly and inefficient way to play.
- Play one or two episodes per day and maximise use of the boosters especially timed boosters from events and features like the daily treat machine
I do understand that many players love to build up their win streaks, and the super charger is a fun element many players do not want to lose. So this is an alternative:
Method B
Making best use of the super charger
Wait to play until the game offers you the super charger. This may mean playing no new levels for a day or two. You can replay old levels to fill chocolate boxes or Season Pass, watch ads etc for boosters but don't play new levels until you get the super charger offered. When you get the super charger play it with a combo on your first move:
- A super charger double combo as your first move will lead to a best possible outcome, usually leading to a pass for most levels (some legendary and Spearmint Snowstorm levels are different, see note*)
- If your super chargers are one space apart carefully use a hand switch to achieve the double combo. The game will again give you the best possible outcome. (Only use this for levels marked hard to not waste hand switches)
- It may be possible to bring two super chargers together if three moves apart using one lollipop plus one hand switch. If you have timed boosters this is a good way to use them. But be careful to not create a combo that will set the super charger off!
- If your super chargers are too far apart use a paint brush to create a super charger + stripe combo and play this as your first move. Such combos will help clear the board enough to then lead to some luck for the rest of the level
- These hand switch and paint brush boosters cost less than 10 gold bars, so using them is more satisfying and cheaper than paying for extra moves at the end
*Some levels are in the game to deliberately block players using super chargers. These may require payment of gold bars even after using a double super charger, and in addition sometimes an additional lollipop or UFO. Keep your boosters from events for these levels. If these levels become too frequent it's time to give up. Finish the episode and do something else.
It is possible to use the above method to play a few episode races and make a gold profit once the super charger is active. The first three moves decide if we will pass of fail a level, so clearing the board early is important.
After a few episodes the game will start to never place your super charger side by side on the opening board. This may be a good time to stop playing for the day. Finish the episode you have started and then play no more if you want to keep your gold.
Method C:
Investment
If you do not have the super charger this is an alternative method to ensure you win every episode race, but you need some gold bars in your account and a few hours time to use this method:
- Spend 69 gold bars to buy indefinite lives for six hours
- Start each level with timed starting boosters, which are available to buy for 9 gold each but many events also give you these for free (the pin sparks boxes are great as you can pick the time when to claim the boosters from them)
- play the easy levels normally
- the harder levels: If your starting boosters are not together for a combo quit immediately and replay. Alternatively play the one first suggested move and see if good opportunities open up. If not quit immediately
- once your starting boosters give you a good combo watch out for further opportunities to make special candies and combos of special candies. The chances are that your luck will continue and you will pass. If not, try again until you can pass
- Spearmint Snowstorm and a few blocker levels might still require you to spend 10 gold bars to get past
- If you have the time to use this method it does work and you should make back the gold you "invested" and earn some extra if playing for the full duration of the six hours
Method D
Perseverance and Patience
- Play normally one episode at a time
- Use boosters sparingly and wisely: Make best use of timed boosters from events but do not buy boosters with gold. Do not waste starting boosters after your first attempt
- Replay each lost level until the game offers you enough extra moves to pass with 10 gold bars or until it allows you to win
- This works if you have lots of lives from friends. Usually the 20 lives from friends should be enough to play quickly enough to win one or two episodes per day
- If the fishing boat shows up usually by adding a colour bomb starting booster that attempt will be easier and give a luckier board
- make use of in game offers such as the train offer to choose at which point you pay the 10 gold bars for the extra moves
- do your maths at the end of each episode to make sure you gained more gold than you spent
Long term players please note:
The old method of replaying and replaying until the game gives you the luck needed to pass no longer works. Don't try to use it as it will only lead to frustration. Some levels no longer have lucky boards, no matter how long you play and no matter how often you reload it. The Spearmint Snowstorm levels are like this. So if you are stuck on those consider waiting until the event is finished.
Here my tips for new accounts and those at the blocker levels/wall:
And of course remember that if you want to see ads in your game never ever spend any real money on offers in the game: Players who spend money never get to see ads.
You can use the above methods with or without having adverts in your game.
If you do decide to spend money only spend as much as you can afford, and only if it helps you enjoy the game: It's fine to pay if you are getting value for money.
Enjoy the game and good luck!
