Cascades could help 🥴

As Mick in the Crush & Tell Episode 5, game design video reminded us, cascades could be helpful, especially if you need to clear blockers. And for cascades to work we need to play from the bottom of the board. This level is classed as hard, not super hard or higher, OK here goes

Must admit, I didn't use any starting boosters, or boosters during play and this is what I ended up with

Oh well a little bit better, but another booster/gold level like so many others 🤐 I finally passed but only by using many boosters 🤕 Shame the level didn't involve Coconut Wheels, I've got plenty of those.

Thanks @christinewupp appreciate your comments. I'd already finished my map and went back to play a few levels so I could add something different to what I keep seeing in the Community.

No adverts - Stop Candy Royale - Money taken but rewards not received - Can I get paid for playing - Game freezing/connection lost - Been playing the same level for ??? weeks - Chocolate Box error - Can we talk to each other - Not receiving lives etc etc etc.

I put that I hadn't used any boosters in my post - which I hadn't for this test - as I wanted to see what happened when not using them. And as we can all see it wasn't good.

I know how King works, have had a lot of experience, and luckily I manage to change my tactics every now and again when they change theirs, which helps me. Not something I would expand upon as we know what happens.

Double Super Charger I haven't seen for, I can't remember when, but not for a long long time, but when starting a new level I have always tried to get a double Colour Bomb if/when I can.

I have always had hints turned on, but always check the board thoroughly before making a move. Hints can be helpful, but I have never just relied upon them in the past and still won't in the future. So if that has changed it won't make any difference to me. And hopefully others will make sure they check their board before actually taking the King hint.

Difficulty is varied across the game, yes it is, but the weekly released new levels definitely have a ridiculous amount of booster/gold hungry levels. We keep being asked to leave feedback but that's now got pointless and it's not much help to those of us who have already had to deal with them. Why levels are not being checked before being released is still a mystery to me 🤔

With regard cascades, again most of us know they are now few and far between, that was the main reason for my post. It's a wonder it was mentioned in the video 🤐

We can keep blaming AI, but I for one noticed a big change 3 to 4 years ago for the worse after passing 10,000 and many of us commented about the impossible levels in the relevant level threads, all to no avail. And since then there hasn't been any improvement for the better. Sadly the majority, if not all of the other players/community members that commented in those level threads have now left the Community and quite possibly the game. What we are seeing now though is more blockers on top of blockers, apparently that is classed as challenging by King, it's a shame their challenging doesn't also include 'fun' 😕

Welcome to "the New Candy Crush of 2026" @Carol-38!

2025 saw many changes and these have now apparently been finalised in the first two weeks of January 2026.

The game this week in a nutshell:

All levels now follow the same basic set of rules.

The first three moves determine the outcome. Players who are gifted a double super charger by the game or at least a double colour bomb combo as a first move will get a different outcome from players with no such combo. It is possible to use a party popper instead of a colour bomb combo.

The following moves are mostly irrelevant so long as we make sensible moves. Players who wish to relax rather than concentrate can turn on hints and follow those. The hints seem stupid and pointless now as they hint us apparently nonsense moves (see my hints thread for that), but this only demonstrates the fact that nonsense moves are now as good as intelligent moves: The outcome is fixed and will be the same, no matter what moves the player makes.

The game decides when to finish the level. If we played the combo as a first move the finish sequence often happens halfway through the level. Otherwise it will happen about three moves from the end.

Depending on difficulty the game will send its helper jelly fish to create one of these finishes:

a pass
a fail with a specified number of moves short (1/3/5/15/25)
a near miss of one jelly/licorice short

Difficulty is varied across the game according to the level range we are playing at. Basically "difficulty" now means how many attempts it will take to pass - by any means - and/or which boosters will be required to achieve a pass.

In order to create a game that is now so obviously pre determined in the outcome of each board we play the AI has had to remove most cascades from the game. Therefore we are no longer seeing cascades. Cascades would make the game unpredictable and impossible for the AI to compute and control the outcome. Instead players would have some control over outcome. This control has now been completely removed from Candy Crush Saga. The New Candy Crush is watching candies drop and watching the game play itself.
