You are 100% correct about everything being controlled by King. But re the start dates shown, I had a reply some time ago @christinewupp and it was quite a while ago, from another player when I was querying the same thing about a player playing for many years, and not passing a lot of levels.
The answer they gave was that the date showing on the Player Card, is the date they started playing King games. I responded asking, so does that mean if they started playing Candy Crush Soda in that year, would the same date also show on their Candy Crush Saga card, even if they had only just started playing it.
I don't recall getting a proper confirmation on my question, but it does make me wonder now π€
Our weekly contests are full of such unreal players @Deal_One . It's best to ignore the opponents as they are put in your game by King in a very controlled way. I also often see that type of player, like this one here:
As you can see this player took four years to reach level 359. I believe these players are players in King's database who stopped playing and who they have dug up for us to compete against. King try to control the event in such a manner that we will struggle to get into first spot but can get one of the three podium places if we play as much as we usually do.
