Hello, I would like to give feedback on why, in my opinion, Candy Crush (or some other King games) should be available on Steam. King's games are already available on the Windows Store, but believe me, this feedback is worth it.
- The casual PC gaming market
The casual PC gaming market is bigger than most people realize, especially on Steam. There are several games like Unpacked or Farming Simulator that are casual games designed to be played for a while when you're bored, just like most of King's games.
Candy Crush already dominates the mobile casual gaming market; making Candy Crush available on PC would help the game expand even further.
2. Monetization
On Steam, free-to-play games are already extremely popular and successful. Games like Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2, even though they aren't exactly casual games, clearly generate a very strong market. Steam proves that the free-to-play model with microtransactions works quite well, especially when a mobile game is ported to PC like Pixel Gun 3D or Stumble Guys.
3. Free advertising thanks to memes
Candy Crush has always been considered a "granny game" by the non-casual gaming audience; as Steam is a very large platform, some people would play the game ironically. There's a whole genre of game reviews where people write positive things like "This game changed my life" about simple games, just for laughs.
4. Achievements
On Steam, there are also many people who love collecting achievements. Creating achievements like "Completed 1000 levels" will encourage people to grind for them; it's quite common, especially in long or difficult games. This would also result in some people even paying for boosters in order to reach a higher level in the game.
6. User data
Steam is a platform where people's information is quite public, especially for developers, information such as Wishlist, average playtime, or the days when there are the most active players. This can be used to improve the game based on statistics and make Candy Crush a better experience for everyone.
7. Larger platforms
Steam offers the "Proton" service, which translates Windows libraries so that Steam games can also be played on Linux or MacOS, thus expanding the game's audience, since the PC version is only avaidable for Windows PCs.
This would also bring Candy Crush to the Steam Deck, a portable Steam console where you can play games. The idea is good since it's almost the same as playing on a phone, because it has a touchscreen.
