I was supposed to receive 8 additional lives after buying lives as per an advertisement on the game, but I did not receive them.

I am sorry to hear that you did not receive the lives you were promised!!
As much as I know, we receive 8 additional lives only if we purchase the Golden Pass! But, the game has different features for different groups of players! So, I do not know which feature was supposed to give you those extra lives!
The best thing to do is to contact King Player Support team and report the issue! If you are playing on a mobile device or the App version on Windows 10, you can send your complaint directly from your game!
