Some players may now see Tap & Swipe Special Candies, a feature that gives you more ways to use Special Candies during a level.

What is Tap & Swipe Special Candies?

Normally, Special Candies are activated by matching or combining them.

With this feature, you can also:

Tap a Special Candy to activate it instantly
Swipe a Special Candy to activate it

This gives you more control over when and how you use your Special Candies.

Which Special Candies can be activated this way?

You may notice this with Special Candies such as:

Striped Candies
Wrapped Candies
Color Bombs
Fish

You might also see a short in game guide introducing the feature.

Why are some players seeing this and others are not?

Tap & Swipe Special Candies is currently being tested with a limited group of players.

As with many new features, we start small, collect feedback, and learn what players think before making any future decisions.

Tapping. But, I prefer activating Special Candies by double tapping, not single tapping.

Did the feature make your gameplay more enjoyable, less enjoyable, or no different?

It makes the game become easier to play probably, not sure if it's more enjoyable.

Did it help you plan your moves and strategy?

It helps a little probably.

I'm not sure about this as I'm not yet progressing in this game recently.

If you could change one thing about this feature, what would it be?

Change the single tapping to double tapping to activate Special Candies.

I'd prefer the "tap to activate" special candies as they're programmed in Candy Crush Soda Saga. In that game, you have to double-tap the special candy to activate it in place. This prevents you from accidentally activating special candies too early. If they require just a single tap, you're forced to activate them if you accidentally put your finger on them. That's not good!

"Tap to activate" might work well if it's a double-tap, not a single-tap.

"Swipe to activate" special candies don't make any sense in Candy Crush Saga. Other games like Royal Match, Fishdom, and Match Villains have "swipe to activate" because the special game pieces that are equivalent to striped candies, jelly fish, and wrapped candies don't have any color associated with them. They can't be matched. Color bombs are already "swipe to activate" because they aren't associated with any color. It's really weird to make CCS's striped candies, wrapped candies, and jelly fish "swipe to activate" when they already have color. Color implies that you're expected to match them.

Leave "swipe to activate" to game elements that aren't associated with any color.

I'm also afraid that "swipe to activate" for all special candies will make Candy Crush Saga lose its identity as a unique match-3 game. I don't want to play Generic Royal Match Clone #503 Featuring a Candy Theme. I want to play Candy Crush Saga.

Boy this is not good! It losses its uniqueness in the game and will make it very similar to rivals like royal match and homescapes!

In summary I really don’t like it!! The strategy of the game is gone, more boosters doesn’t equal better boosters! You can’t move boosters around to get a bigger match, been super frustrating. Feel like I’m playing other swipe games which I got bored off quickly. Back to traditional please!!!!

Did the feature make your gameplay more enjoyable, less enjoyable, or no different? Less- getting bored of it quicker. Bored enough to create an account and comment here (been playing for years!!!)
Did it help you plan your moves and strategy? Absolutely the opposite, you can’t move candy’s around to get bigger boosters. Finding the satisfaction of getting a bigger booster is gone. Feels “easier” but more just like tapping on things.

If you could change one thing about this feature, what would it be? Back to traditional please!! I’m on 9660 and there is a reason I like the game, this has changed the game play completely.

Agree with @teenybee . I am surprised that strategy is even mentioned in relation to this feature. Previously, we had to find an activating mechanism to set off a special candy; now we tap on it thoughtlessly. The game is being reduced to making explosions. Yes, a game for 5-year-olds.

I do not see this feature in any of my games just yet so cannot comment except I'd like to ask the question: Why has this been introduced? In thousands of posts I have read I have not come across one that would suggest the game needed such a feature. No one has ever asked fo this. Why fix something that isn't broken? I'd really like to know the reasons behind this new feature. Perhaps we could have this explained in the next Show and Tell @QueenB .

Another step in the relentless march towards mindlessness.

Between this, and the new wheel for extra moves, there’s even less need for any form of thought or strategy. At this rate the game will soon be playing itself. The only human skill necessary will be the ability to press a button.

The kids will love it, of course.

Hi @PummyRaj thanks for flagging this. The feature uses a single tap to activate a Special Candy, and players can also swipe the Special Candy directly to activate it. So it is not a double tap.

The GIF should be fixed now as well. Please let me know if anything still looks off 😉
