Hello, Crushers!
You may have recognized me as a former fan artist of Denize the dragon.
Previously, after celebrating her birthday on June 23 this year, I decided to permanently retire from making fan art of her in favor of transitioning to a visually similar original, non-Candy Crush character I designed, Sue the sea serpent!
Normally, I would not post art about Sue because she's not part of the game's world, but since today, August 7, is National Sea Serpent Day, I'd like to give everyone in this forum a good look at this wonderful character I've designed, who was inspired by none other than Denize. And by the way, this particular day is Sue's birthday!
Sue the sea serpent is no ordinary sea serpent, as you know. Normally, monsters like her are fearsome and carnivorous, but not Sue! Her race of sea serpents, which I call the Shar'pessie, is entirely herbivorous. Like all the megaherbivores you've seen on land, such as giraffes, elephants and hippopotami, these 100+-foot long abominations like Sue are very strong…strong enough to crush ships and cause incredible damage…if you make them angry. But let's not worry about that! A healthy diet of seaweed and fruit, plus a daily routine of lifting abandoned ship anchors helps these beasts stay strong and muscled up. And Sue's favorite food is coconuts…she just can't get enough of eating these sweet morsels!
Other abilities Shar'pessies like Sue possess include the ability to spit water similar to how a dragon like Denize can breathe fire, plus a strong immune system that can resist many poisons, venoms and toxins (though not all of them). It's not hard to see how these abilities can make a fine firefighter out of a Shar'pessie like Sue!
Don't be frightened by the many thorny spikes that stud her spine, like Denize! Just like the Candy Kingdom's sweetest dragoness, Sue is very friendly and doesn't want to hurt anyone! She is also an avid champion of ocean conservation and wants you to treat the planet you live in with healthy respect.
Many years ago, Sue was born to her mom Bessie (the purple and red Shar'pessie on your right) and her dad Jesse (the skinnier orange and green Shar'pessie on your left). Shar'pessies are known for being a very colorful species, and while you're at it, take a cute look at Sue as a little girl playing on their necks.
The moment that Bessie laid the dark green egg that her daughter Sue would crack out of was the beginning of the best moment of her life. Right after that egg saw the light of day out of her own cloaca, Bessie resolved to take care of her daughter and love her from the bottom of her heart.
Cradling her new little bundle of joy with a single tender coil, Bessie incubated Sue's egg and anticipated her hatching.
When the moment came that Sue would be born, her father, Jesse, was the one who came up with the idea of naming her so, which broke with the idea of having the name end with something like "essy".
Sue grew up to become a bright and wonderful beast. Like her mom Bessie, her mane and spots could glow in the dark after being exposed to solar energy. She could light up her big, long body as a beacon to light the way for sailors lost at night, guiding them away from danger.
And since National Sea Serpent Day also coincides with National Lighthouse Day, no one could go wrong with seeing Sue playfully climb up a lighthouse and being a welcoming sight for sore eyes every once in a while.
