How long does it take now to become a Legend in this Community?

I think it's ridiculous that the most helpful and kindest long standing member of this community is Royalty and not a Legend.

What has happened to this system of "road to legend" @QueenB. You must know who I mean. How many posts, helpful responses, haha responses, love or thumbs up responses does a helpful, kind, witty person who works her heart out to keep this community afloat need to become a legend?

Then at the same time there are some people with that title who have never actually posted anything I would class as helpful and apparently got their status years ago by posting a lot of stuff in pointless counting threads years ago when this still counted.

The system needs looking at I think. It's become too slow. We should have a means to nominate members of this community who stand out and there should be some reward. Legendary status for the person that deserves it the most would be a start.

That would be a fab attitude if it wasn't for the fact that a lot of people who come here to this community aren't having fun at all, so if we respond to them I think it's important to acknowledge that. What you are suggesting reminds me of the well meaning stranger who sees your gloomy face while passing you in the street and says "Cheer up: It might never happen!" I get so angry when someone does that! How do they know it hasn't already happened? One day they will hit on somebody who is just coming out of the doctor's surgery after having been given the worst possible news. That is what happens if you lack both empathy and common sense, which in my view are some of the best human qualities.

The system has always been flawed. Don't know if that can be totally helped? I have watched/noticed a lot over the years. So, having a good time here is what really matters.

Thank you @SApple2 for your comments, and it's nice this thread was started, gives us all something else to talk about. The Legend title used to mean something, and I know a few Legends in Candy Crush Saga who worked hard to achieve it.

But as you and others in this thread have said, what does it really mean now, it's a shame. There are many Noble's, Champion's and Royal's who contribute to the Community, more than a lot of the 'now called Legends' keeping it going, so what's the real point of it all, as it stands.

Anyway onwards and upwards, let's just keep the Community fun and helpful to be in 😀

I think you'll find Lindark's points are mainly coming from the 'Your Wish is Granted' game @christinewupp, many are playing that and there will be a lot more Legends showing up, over the next few weeks just from that. I've already seen many pop up over the last week or two from counting and the Your wish is granted. Don't ask me how you get into them I don't know, I'm just nosey looking at profiles then I can see them 🙃

The requirement increase from Royalty to Legend is insane.

Noble, Champion, Royalty, and Legend are just for bragging rights anyway. Royalty is a little bit special because it grants access to a community avatar. I wish these ranks better reflected the quality of people's contributions.

Thank you for sharing this and being so honest. It underlines my point beautifully, so it might be some guidance to what needs changing @QueenB : Those pointless counting threads in the other forums are not so pointless if all you have to do is be able count from 1 to 3000 to get legendary status. Or post 3000 spam comments around the block.

Does being a Legend really mean something or any other titles for that matter in this community? If acquiring it does not distinguish one from redundant meaningless acts to benevolent ones, then where does the value lies?

The same goes with the badges. If receiving them through accomplishments can easily be taken away or removed, then what's the point of even getting one?

@Carol-38 Your kindness and helpfulness mattered to those countless people you have helped. I believe this is more precious than the title.

I have gone from 7,000 comments to 10,000 comments and also 12,000 points to 20,000 points just in a matter of days! I think this new system is so awesome!

Well said, @christinewupp. I noticed recently, when checking someone’s posts, that they had posted the word ‘like’ over 50 times in a row (I gave up scrolling down at that stage). The fact that that would be counted as as much of a contribution as 50 welcoming, thoughtful, kind and helpful posts from someone else, let’s say Carol 😉, is absolutely ludicrous. That system needs a major overhaul to distinguish real contributions from what’s close to spam.

Thank you for your very kind words @christinewupp, @Alienscar is correct, for all the posts I have made over the years, reactions have been few and far between, it is quite often only Diamond_Lim who gives one, that's just the way it goes. But the good news is, I check my points often, and I'm nearly there. I'm guessing within the next month or two Legend will be my new title, although I am really enjoying being called Royalty 👑 please all curtsey or of course if you are a bloke, bow 🙃

Yes it's taking a long time, will get my 9 year Community Anniversary badge in January, but I will get my Legend status well before then. But again what does the title really mean, the counting games and Your wish is granted are still active, and as you say many get the Legend title from doing those alone, without making posts or helping others. I could name quite a few, but I won't, that's not what the Community is about. The Community is for us to be friendly, helpful and try to put the silly King system right.

Yes my profile is still private, but not for much longer, so check every now and again, next month 😁

I would like to add @christinewupp that I am not even sure who the community titles are aimed at. Personally the community titles do not motivate me in any way whatsoever and my posting habits stay the same regardless of some random title.

Personally I don't believe the counting threads would exist if they weren't driven by the points obtained from reactions.

Unfortunately @Carol-38 your profile is now private, so I can't see how much you've posted or what the reactions have been.

I think the issue is that the balance is perhaps too heavy on actual number of posts as well, so without the counting threads it takes too long.

I totally agree with what you are saying @christinewupp but a lot of Carol's posts sometimes only have one reaction and that is the one that Lim provides to everyone.

As with everything on this site the issue is one of activity. That is, there aren't enough active posters to push people along the 'road to Legend' by just points from reactions as was possible in the past.

Yes, we completely understand where you’re coming from, and this is actually something we’ve been looking at and discussing.

The Road to Legend and how we recognise active and valuable Community members is something we know needs some attention. We’ve had a few other Community improvements that needed to be prioritised first, so we haven’t been able to tackle this one yet, but it hasn’t been forgotten.

I also really like your point about finding better ways to recognise members who consistently stand out through helpful contributions. I’ll make sure that feedback is included when we come back to reviewing the system.
