How to change my avatar in the Candy Crush Saga?

The bug is back again! Last time this happened (on 9/30/2020), I stopped the app, cleared the cache, restart, and I got the avatar back! I think I updated the app yesterday and lost the avatar again. This time, I stopped the app, cleared the cache, restart, and my avatar is still the helmet guy (stock avatar). What else can I try?

Is this still possible to do in the Candy Crush app? I don't see the option to choose a character rather than upload an image.
