We warmly welcome you to the Friendly King Community's Candy Crush Saga forum.
If you are part of the Fantastic 5 custom test, you can leave the current team and join another team at any time or form another new team. But I'm not sure if you can go from custom team to random team, I'm trying to get information from our team and I'll let you know if I find any.

Hello Cath, no it isn't possible to go back to being on a random team once you have joined, or created a custom team.
That said, I have seen some people say that if you turn your Fantastic Five feature off for a month then when you turn it back on you will be in a random team again. I do not know if this actually works though.

As long as you play quite a bit, you should still be able to get the rewards regardless of who your friends are :)
