Disappearing Lives

Why do my lives change every day even though I dont use them ... Friends send lives which disappear the next day ... had built a store of lives cos I was going to be in for a while suddenly i have dropped from 50+ to four ... having not used any of them ... defeats the object of asking for lives if the game arbitrarily deletes them ..

Down to two today not touched them ... is it this random for everyone or am I being persecuted for playing every day and storing lives ?

Down two again today seems the more I play they remove my stored lives ... pathetic ... why ask friends for life if the game deletes them ...?
