Yeah that is one of the issues with events like these. Collecting purple candy isn't too bad expect normally you get a x10 bonus if you collect the candy on a new level, so even this simple task can give new players an advantage. The real issue with these events is when you need to complete levels. Those players at the end of the map can only complete 45 levels a week so are immediately at a disadvantage.
