I can not send lives or request to my friends as their info is no longer on the phone just game characters and some strange names and numbers, how do I get my friends names back

Sounds like the game is no longer connected to Facebook.
In most cases all you will have to do then is to start the game on your mobile, click on the blue 'Connect to Facebook' button followed by your login details and your avatars will be back to normal.
