The Queeen in my Kingdom I would have to say is my Great Grandmother. I never knew any of my grandmothers as they passed either before I was born or when I was only 18 months old. My great grandmother was the type that wanted the whole family at her home for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She would provide all of the food and cook it herself. She put on quite a spread during those holiday's. She cooked, we had to clean up. You couldn't even get close to the kitchen when she was cooking, she would kick you out. But when it was time to clean up, you had better be in there doing those dishes.
For Easter, she would make this beautiful lamb shaped cake, but nobody would eat it. Said it was too pretty to eat.
She paid for all of those meals by playing bingo all the time. She loved her bingo. I stayed with her for a week one time and we went to the bingo hall and played. We were only allowed to play one card each. It was those type of cards that had a slide over the number cover. I was one number away from a blackout when someone called out "BINGO." Grandma said I wouldn't have been able to claim it anyway since I was too young. She could have claimed it though and kept it.
During my visit with her, we made a strawberry/rhubarb pie. We went out in her backyard and picked the rhubarb ourselves. I had such a wonderful week visiting with her. Unfortunately, she passed not long after that.
Hey Crushers, Happy International Women's Day to all of you! 🙌
Looks like this Community is built on the loving shoulders of so many great women, right? 😍
My Queens are also my mother, my two grandmothers, so different yet both so important to me, and my daughter, who's taught me so much in life ❤️
