I have solved this problem by downloading an older version of ccs from APKSFree.com. dont forget to allow apps from outside sources in your settings Gareth

Is this the 2011 Xoom? What Android version do you run on it?
By the sounds of it, your device could be starting to be outdated for a game that´s getting updates roughly twice a month. That´s when the loading and crashing starts and updating or restarting makes no difference anymore.
I recently got a new device myself and things run smooth.
