Why are special challenges disappearing before the timer runs out and before completed?

When I open Candy Crush and there is a new challenge such as the treasure hunt or find the green candies (those are just two examples) I can play until I exit the game. When I come back just a few minutes later, they are gone. I am using Android Lollipop if that matters.

I know that the events are timed but it's normally something like 24/48 hours so maybe this is the reason?
Try disconnecting and reconnecting from Facebook/Kingdom and seeing if they return. I don't think there is much you can do if they don't return though.

OK never mind. I closed the game at 53 hours remaining on the chests. When I came back one hour and 30 minutes later they were gone again. No amount of logging in/out helped this time. Extremely disappointed.

I am having the same issue !

The same issue here... Yesterday two challenges started with time around 80/90 hours. After one hour they were gone. I am using android on Xiaomi. The same situation during weekend.

I've had the same problem. When I updated the app the new challenges were there (Dexter's striped challenge as well as Tiffis special challenge) both with more than 50 hours left to complete. But when I logged on this morning, the challenges are gone and no amount of logging out and in to Facebook brings them back. Also, the daily reward changes back to the old "9 day" calendar type instead of the "7 day presents" type. I don't know if this makes sense. When I lost the Dexter challenge last weekend I hoped that the update yesterday would sort it out but this morning they're gone again. Very disappointed that it seems out of my control.
