The player ahead of me on Sams sweet streak was at 225 then they suddenly jumped to 431.
How is that possible?

As you heard, this may be because there are many players who play the game offline and reconnect the game to the server at a certain time. So it's probably not a hack or cheat and you can proceed safely😊

Easiest explanation would be that they played some levels while not connected to the Internet for whatever reason. 9 levels later their connection was restored and their points synced, thus jumping from one score to another. Seems they lost their streak at some point though.
