When were you last connected? Is there an error message?
What is your country of residence? What device are you using?
Have you tried another network? What about another device?
If your game account is linked to your Facebook account (you should link it to either FB or King to save your progress!), see if you have connection issues on the browser version.

You can get lives from other players. There's a limit of 20 lives you can use a day though, even if you have more stored up.
Just send friend requests to other people, then ask them for lives through the ingame life request function.
