Never have paid and past 10,000 level. If I had to pay, would have left a long time ago. Save your boosters, then get on a streak. I have had 100+ streaks. Save your gold, until you really need it.
All of which, of course, require you to pass new levels to achieve. So, sorry, free gold is a luxury in Candy Crush. You need to pay, really, to progress.
The only ways I can think of winning gold bars is by either winning the episode race, completing all parts of the deluxe chocolate box after completing the gold box, part of the reward is 10 gold bars or candy royale if your game has it.
