That worked but didn't save any of my progress so I lost races and upgrades!
Trying playing an older level you already passed, and then quitting out of the level.
(That way, your win streak will not be broken.)
That will refresh/update your events.
I had it once or twice when the date was set wrong on my device. There are always some events, so you should not have this screen unless there is a problem. Close the game. Make sure your device settings are correct (set time and date to automatic) and reopen the game. This worked for me. I play on iPhone/iPad. Maybe restarting your device might help.
