Hello @DAC. This is a curious phenomenon. If the problem is not related to your computer, it might be related to your profile. Here are some questions to help us better troubleshoot your issue:
Do you and/or your daughter play CCFS on Facebook? ...or on King.com?
If you play on Facebook, is your account synced on King.com? If not, do the following on your PC:
Is your game app up-to-date? I am currently on version 3.3.2. If you are not, please update the app.
Have you tried playing on a different device, such as a mobile phone? If so, do you get the same smaller screen?

Also, I noticed that your screenshots are for Candy Crush Saga, so you are in the wrong forum. This forum is for Candy Crush Friends Saga, so I will have your question moved to the CCS forum so a Moderator for that game can explain the portrait view of CCS.
