Why does the cherry almost always end up on the ledge in level 2630?

Why is the level designed this way? Once the popcorn is popped, when the cherry falls, 9 times out of 10 it drops and falls to the side, onto the ledge, instead of straight down. There is no way to move it back without using a booster. Why?
