At least with level 577.

I had one jelly left to clear, and just only one, and just a single layer of jelly, and it was on the track.

I hit it with a lollypop hammer.

Still there.

Hit it again.

Still there!

After 5 hits, it was cleared.

Most aggravating to lose 5 hammers to a single jelly.

Hi Christina, I hear you and I can empathize with you. I played some levels this morning and had to use a few lollipops and also hand switches to clear them.
