Is level difficulty affected by events e.g. Candy Royale?

Is anyone finding that as soon as Candy Royale shows up in their games levels get harder to beat? I am playing two separate games at exactly the same episode at the moment. In both games the starting boards are identical and the level rating is the same. But on my iPhone I had Candy Royale pop up today, on the iPad just Beat the Buffet.

I use the same strategy: the same top win streak and pre level starting boosters. Level 6280 I get a lucky board for the iPad and the fishes ate the inaccessible frostings in the corners. But on my iPhone the fishes did not go for the frostings so I had to use a UFO. All of the levels during Candy Royale were hard to pass, I even had to pay gold for extra moves. The payout was worth it: 72 gold, so I'm not complaining. Just noting. I do think Candy Royale leads to harder boards.

Interestingly once Candy Royale was finished the tables turned for the remainder of the episode: Suddenly my iPhone got all the lucky boards with colour bombs side by side on the opening board and my iPad got none of that and had to use more boosters to pass. So maybe they are trying to even things out a bit over the entire episode. Or maybe it's all just completely by chance and I'm just imagining things, but I very much doubt that.

I would agree. They try to force booster usage. Usually it is two levels that are specifically harder for the 500 gold version. Beyond that they are likely a little harder in general.

@christinewupp All I can say is yes, Royale seems to make levels more difficult. Like they're not really hard enough at levels 15000+?! LOL
