Mathematically impossible levels- deliberate or design error?

So my attention has been drawn to level 10489 over in the support forum. I have run some tests on it and come to the conclusion this one is, in its current form, mathematically impossible.

The starting board is this:

Totally agree with all of your comments here. These reminded me of some levels where the dragons dropped/ appeared one by one or so randomly and there were only 2 dragons at a time on the board. So, unless you buy more moves, there are no ways you can have all orders even present on the board to try any end-game boosters. And sometimes boosters are not helpful at all, especially when they have so many keys or blockers or skulls, only more moves can help. Once I decide that I will have to save moves, I will not use any boosters.

Ya it is a last turn win. Makes me think the game is getting messed up with the number of swirls left or it is intentionally leaving you short sometimes.

Of course, they did take away one move from the level since... I start on 33 moves. I also note that in the video all the lucky candies already on the board turn into frosting. They don't for me. Half of them change to toffee swirls now.

The toffee swirls do not all come as 5 stacks, they are variable. Some come as singles, some as fives. I agree this one is pay to play, but I'm still not sure if it's deliberate or an error.

It turns out my little grey cells had forgotten I had already once checked the same level out for someone else, back in October, and the same problem occurred back then. I am surprised not more complaints have come in since then. Or maybe they fixed it in October and have broken it again since....?

Now I get what you are saying. Do the toffee swirls spawn as 5 stacks? if so it is technically possible from your starting point as 27 + (26/5 = 5 r 1) 6 = 33.

Not remotely realistic, but possible.

Not on this one I've just posted about. The only thing to make that algorithm happy is to buy extra moves.

There are not enough blockers on the board and the lucky candies drop too slowly to fulfil the order for frosting in this level regardless of how many boosters you play. There is no option to play the lucky candy pre level booster.

To prove this I removed all the blockers on the board using party poppers and UFO before making a single move.

From here on I play combos and cascades to bring down lucky candy. I even remove each lucky candy with lollipop hammers and use UFOs to remove the blockers spawned by the lucky candy.

The level produces lots of special candies and cascades. However with each move there is only ever one lucky candy dropping, regardless of the cascades, which do NOT help to bring down more lucky candies. Using a UFO to remove blockers or lucky candy does not count as a "move", so it will not bring down another lucky candy until the next proper move.

Four frostings short..... Whatever have they done to this level design?

I would suggest it is NOT deliberate, but a design flaw. Any views?

Given the way the algorithm works, unless they have a broken mechanic, you cannot look at the board mathematically. Level 240 might also be mathematically impossible but... candies on the board can change from normal to wrapped, striped or color bombs.

Basically make the algorithm happy and you win.
