Because at level 15,501 trying to complete the box I'll use more boosters than I win. One party popper costs 29 GB, for me I won't waste the few party poppers I have for the gold bars.
I don't start a episode race unless I have time to complete the whole episode. If I don't complete the episode right away when I go back to play a few hours later someone else already won.

Your explanation about episode race raised my attention. Here is what I noticed about this "race".
Unless it has recently changed, episode race is not an actual race against other players. It is a race against avatars moved by algorithms. Usually ,(if not always) what will happen is the following:
Even if one racer shows one of your friends' avatar, you can be sure that this player is not actually racing against you (this has been checked several times, same thing in weekly race).
So the important thing I make sure when starting an episode race is that I will complete it within 24 hours... and don't forget about it π
