I've returned to the device where I began a new game (to test if it would get entry to the Music Season, among other reasons) after the weekend. Completely forgot I left off the game mid-race due to losing L315.
Yet when I opened the level, this appeared:
After losing a level, obviously you've lost any chance at a gold crown for that level, right?
And yet…:
Is it simply a tutorial, or is King making more 🤬🤬🤬🤬ty changes to the Candy Necklace? (as if the goodie bag demotions I recently learned of weren't enough…)
For reference, I again lost 315, but since curiosity won out to see what would happen if I won the level, I paid the 10 gold for the necessary extra moves.
It didn't occur to me check earlier, but in addition to the crown being granted, my Win Streak was also magically restored. 316 should've indicated 1 yet it was 5.

That sounds like they have introduced a system by which you can spend money/gold to buy your win streak back even if you slipped up on one level. I have seen this elsewhere in other apps (Duolingo to be precise), where there are streaks to be kept up and lengthened, that they have systems in place where you can buy your lost streak back, which actually a bit of a cheat of the whole idea of a streak really. Personally I never understood the psychology behind wanting the have the longest streak of any kind. But yes, it looks like you are in a test group trialling this out.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily exploitative. The example in the language learning app Duolingo uses "gems" earned for practising the language to pay for your streak to be restored, and I guess they do it because of the psychology underlying it: If you are on a good streak and you lose it this might dishearten you and make you give up practising, so helping someone keep up their win streak encourages them to try even harder next time to not slip up again. I can see a similar psychology working in Candy Crush as well. The game is so full of mind games and psychological tricks, I'm almost surprised they haven't come up with this idea before.

First time learning of that, @MannyFae, interesting. Go figure, seems it occurred when I took my months-long break from the game.
Good to know I wasn't imagining a time when the necklace gave 2 of each booster, miss those days… In my main game, I'd much rather be given 2 wrapped candies instead of the 2 striped the last bag currently gives.
